Simple Past Tense and Present Prefect Tense


    1. Simple Past Tense

            The simple past tense called the preterite, is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. The simple past is the basic form of past tense in English. 

Here is the formula of simple past tense

1. Positif (+)

Subject + Verb 2 

eg. My brother played badminton

Subject + be (was/were)

eg. I was a student


2. Negative (-) 

Subject + did + not + bare invinitive

My brother didn't play badminton

Subject + be (was/were) + not

eg. I wasn't a student


3. Interogative (?)

did + Subject + bare infinitive

eg. did my brother play badminton?

be (was/were) + Subject

eg. was I a student


    2. Present Perfect Tense

    The present perfect is used to indicate a link between the present and the past. the time of the action is before now but not specified, and we are often more interested in the result than in the action itself.

Here is the formula of simple past tense

1. Positif (+)

Subject + have/has + Verb 3/past participle 

eg. My sister written a letter


2. Negative (-) 

Subject + has/have + not + Verb 3/past participle

My sister has not written a letter


3. Interogative (?)

has/have + Subject + Verb 3/past participle

eg. has my sister written a letter?
